Overview of the ECPs Training in Taiwan

Background/Objective: Although Taiwanese Society of Psychiatry (TSP) has set regulations for
standard training for early career psychiatrists (ECP) in Taiwan, there are still many differences
within the ECP training system. For example, the training of psychiatry institute differs from the
training of a university based hospital. Although ECPs in Taiwan has limited resources in regards to
research and clinical practice. Taiwan Young Psychiatrist Organization (TYPO) has been tried to
provide more resources and support for ECPs in Taiwan in the past 6 years. This overview will cover
the current ECP training programs in Taiwan, what TYPO has accomplished and the current unmet
needs of ECP in Taiwan.

Conclusion: Indonesian ECP formal taining takes 4 years and it may continue to lifelong learning as
the psychiatric knowledge keeps growing.
