University Hospital and College of Medicine, Korea

Background/Objective: Brain imaging technique in child and adolescent psychiatry is developing at
an astonishing speed. Neuroimaging technique in field of psychiatry has yielded many meaningful
and significant scientific results. There are cascade of neuroimaging studies in the field of child &
adolescent psychiatric disorders (ADHD, autism, child onset schizophrenia) due to rapid progression
in the technical aspect of imaging and confirmation of the safety of human young subjects.
Nowadays, genetic-imaging integration method is now being applied in child psychiatric disorders
(neurodevelopmental disorders).

Method: In this presentation, I’ll summarize scientific results in neuroimaging studies in child &
adolescent psychiatric field.

Result: The structural and functional neuroimaging data about ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder) will be especially presented in detail, because ADHD is one of the most vigorously studied
disorders in child psychiatry. I’ll also present the results of genetic and environmental studies for
children with ADHD.

Conclusion: Through the diverse and meaningful imaging, genetic and epigenetic data from ADHD
children and adolescents, the audience will learn the way of studying developing mind and its
pathology.
