The Educational Processes of Psychiatric Training. The Experience in a Mental
Hospital in Evolution

Content: Psychiatry is a complex specialty. The complex human mind is extremely difficult to
assess, it involves comprehensive knowledge of normal and abnormal emotions, cognitions and
behaviors. Psychiatric residents in training are usually exposed to severe psychiatric patients in
their clinical practice in hospitals. They are not, however, sufficiently exposed to the less severe end
of the spectrum of mental disorders, nor to the organic and neurologic end of the other spectrum. The
necessities and opportunities of psychiatric education is analyzed.
